We are excited to announce that our next Walking & Natural History Tour destination will be Baja California, Mexico. Join us February 17-22, 2026 for Baja Californa : Gray Whales & Desert Trails. We will begin in Loreto with a stroll along the waterfront and boat trip on the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). Then we traverse the desert pennisula to the Paific calving lagoons of the migratory, magnifient Gray Whales for chances to be up close and personal with the often friendly whales. There will be options for easy walking and birdwatching every day. Accomodations will be interesting and luxurious. This trip will be amazing.

Baja 2026 - Itinerary
Friendly Whales
Registration will open in October or November 2024.
Please send us an email if you are interested.

We will enjoy 5 whale watch trips on small modern boats operated by expert Mexican guides. Our chances are excellent for close encounters and photographs of the migratory Gray Whales that will be in the coastal lagoons to give birth and mate. Some whales are friendly and intentionally come close to the boats. We may also see Bottlenose Dolphins and Blue-footed Boobies.

Locations for light hiking (1-3 miles) will include the waterfront in Loreto, a beach lined with mangroves, the upland desert beneath dormant Three Virgens Volcano, and the desert oasis pueblo of San Ignacio.
Birds we may see include: Vermillion Flycatcher, Verdin, Roadrunner, Crested Caracara, Reddish Egret & Little Blue Heron, Cactus Wren, Frigatebirds and Blue-footed Boobies and Yellow-footed Gulls.
